History

The beginning
24 Oct 2009

The team was formed in 2005 and was comprised of a bunch of boys who varied between 5 & 6 years old who had never played football together. Michelle who had previously nurtured and managed her other son Sam through the lower ranks of under 7's & 8's football decided to do the same with Joel and again took on the job as manager.
In that first 2005/2006 season they started playing in the Under 7's league with 5 of the players, namely Joel, Callum, Harry, Kev & Alex playing a year under age. However despite this they won more games than they lost, which led to other teams complaining to the League that they had been beaten by a team that included under age players. This meant that the team had to pull out of the League who stated we weren't insured to play on Council pitches so we spent the rest of the season playing friendlies.

Under 7's - 2006/2007
24 Oct 2009

The 2006/2007 season saw several of the older players moving up to Under 8's leaving Joel, Callum, Harry, Kev & Alex to officially play as under 7's for the 2006/2007 season and added Andy and Tom plus a real find in our keeper Jake.
The advantage of playing a season of friendlies together meant that the team won almost all of their matches in the U7's friendly league and took to the King Georges stage at the end of the season to receive medals.

Under 8's - 2007/2008
24 Oct 2009

The 2007/2008 season saw the introduction of Lewis and Brandon and we finished a respectable 3rd in the league after just failing to get all 3 points in the last match, which would have seen the team finish joint 1st. We also had a decent cup run and were narrowly beaten on penalties, in the semi-final against a strong Mill Hill team who went on to win our league

Under 9's - 2008/2009
24 Oct 2009

The 2008/2009 season saw the introduction of Sam Penkethman and Harry Brannigan and once again we finished a respectable 3rd having scored more goals than any other team in the League.
A 3rd place finish would normally have meant that we would remain in the same league the following year but with League re-structuring and the addition of more teams we were informed that the team would be moving into another league.
Preparations for the start of the 2009/2010 season saw exciting times and was as a major turning point for the U10's because Michelle had to stand down as manager of the newly named Aces due to work commitments and Mr Harvey stepped in to manage the team after jointly coaching / managing the team for the previous 4 years with Michelle.
Also because of the past seasons success we were able to form a 2nd team U10's Colts and Nathan stepped in to manage the newly formed Colts assisted by John Brannigan.
This inevitably meant that the Aces had to release Brandon & Harry Brannigan to the Colts team but guaranteed that they would play regular football.
The only addition to the Aces being a last minute buy in Matthew McManus who just made the "signing on" deadline.

Under 10's - 2009/2010 - A new era
24 Oct 2009

We wait to see how the squad perform in the 2009/2010 season against some good quality teams who have been playing at a this level for several years.
Whatever happens this season doesn't really matter because this is the opportunity to get in some good hard games, bring in new players and build up a squad that is equipped and ready to compete next season in 9-aside with off sides and in the following year "Big boys" 11-aside football.
